IB Recruitment Process of Selection

The following stages make up the selection procedure for Junior Intelligence Officer positions at the Intelligence Bureau.

a) The candidate must show up for Tier-I at one of the centres assigned to him or her from a list of five cities of their choosing. For every incorrect response, a quarter of a mark will be deducted. No points would be given for a question that was not attempted. The answers to the questions that the applicants indicated as “Mark for Review” will not be taken into consideration.

b) The Tier-I exam will have a cut-off score (out of 100) as follows in order to accomplish qualitative selection and hire the best talent available:

All ex-servicemen would be treated in their own category, i.e., UR/OBC/SC/ST/EWS. UR-35, OBC-34, SC/ST-33, & EWS-35

c) Candidates would be shortlisted for Skill Test and Personal Interview at 5 times the number of openings based on their performance and normalisation of marks in Tier-I exam, provided the candidate meets the minimal cut-off.

d) However, depending on the candidates’ marks and the number of openings, the cut-off for the Tier-I exam in various categories may go higher. Similar to the cut-off in Tier-I, the need of 5 times the number of openings could also be reduced.

g) A final merit list of 797 candidates for the position of JIO-II/Tech will be created based on the combined results of the Tier-I, Tier-II, and Tier-III exams.

f) The successful completion of Character & Antecedent verification, followed by a physical examination, etc., will also affect the ultimate selection to the positions.
